Kazimierz-Dolny

Chaim Goldberg was born in Kazimierz-Dolny on March 20th, 1917.
For a few centuries prior to his birth and during the period between the two world wars,
Kazimierz Dolny served as a magnet for artists, poets, writers, photographers, and film makers.

Its picturesque hills that enclose the smaller and flater area is filled with blooms during the spring.
On some occasions the area is flooded by an excessive and abundant snowfall. 

Between World War I and World War II the concept of an art colony took off in Kazimierz Dolny in particular
due to its landscape and the gravitation of students as well as faculty from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
The rector of the Academy, Professor Tadeusz Pruszkowski built a large studio and residence atop
one of the surrounding hills and spent many vacations and entire summers in his Kazimierz hillside perch.
